Curtis Mechling

Curtis Mechling

I'm a senior cybersecurity architect, embedded systems engineer, and lifelong tinkerer. From writing software on a TRS-80 to leading multi-million-dollar automation efforts in railway control systems, my journey has always been fueled by curiosity and creativity.

📚 Early Spark

Growing up in Florida with a military family, I was surrounded by diverse people and ideas. I discovered a passion for circuits and code in the early 80s, experimenting with a 160-in-one kit and writing BASIC on the Commodore 64. These formative years laid the groundwork for my career in embedded systems.

🎓 Education and Experience

I studied software and electrical engineering through both formal and self-guided education, eventually specializing in Network Security at the University of Advancing Technology (2004–2007). Over three decades, I've designed railway signal systems, developed secure embedded platforms, and consulted on embedded security internationally for several Fortune 500 companies. My work has spanned industries, from railways to automotive, always with a focus on security and reliability.

💼 Professional Highlights

🎩 Beyond the Terminal

I'm also a card magician (yes, really), a cardistry enthusiast, and a tabletop RPG fan. I believe that creativity and engineering go hand in hand — whether I'm writing a parser or performing sleight of hand.

🚀 Mission

My mission is to simplify the complex, break down barriers to knowledge, and build secure systems that work — reliably, resiliently, and creatively.
